I hand picked all my gemstones at the Gem Faire, when it came through to Tacoma, WA at the Tacoma Dome. I felt like a baller buying these lollll

I won't be able to get more until next year when it comes around again :)
I also finally built the courage to work with precious stones & wrap gold!
I'm damn proud.

The really cool thing about gemstones is that they're really cold!
You'll see for yourself ^_~
Stones stay cold.
They're natural semi-precious gems from the Earth.
Random Fact: Most of the World's lemon quarts is mined in Brazil.

The Amethyst Gemstone is the purple variety of quartz. It is probably the most well known gemstone. It is also February's Birth Stone ^^

I recently read, "The color purple is traditionally the color of royalty and amethyst has been used since the dawn of history to adorn the rich and powerful monarchs and rulers."

CZ means Cubic Zirconia

It sounds like you claim to keep silence, "CCCCCCCC..." This sound reminds you of a bee buzz, "ZZZZZZZZZ..." If you put this letters together, it will be something strange, "CZ". Let's open Wikipedia for "CZ", and the first result returns you "Cubic Zirconia". We read, "Cubic Zirconia (or CZ) is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide. The synthesized material is hard, optically flawless and usually colorless, but may be made in a variety of different colors. It should not be confused with zircon, which is a zirconium silicate. Because of its low cost, durability, and close visual likeness to diamond, synthetic cubic zirconia has remained the most gemologically and economically important competitor for diamonds since 1976."

To tell the truth, I knew about Cubic Zirconia, but haven't tried those "diamondy" beauties until I received Cubic Zirconia Beads from Artbeads.com. They have a beautiful choice of CZs of any kind: beads, pendants, teardrops and so on. I decided to use faceted teardrops in my design.


According my idea, the necklace should have been pretty light and elegant, to wear for any occasion, and I added Amethyst, Garnet, Peridot, Olivine and Yellow CZ Faceted Teardrop Pendants to the main chain made using amethyst faceted round beads, seed beads and peridot chips. I wish I have wider CZ pendants color range, but for now it's fine. Ahhhha... Next time I'll try to combine those teardrops with Russian leaves...

The first picture displays my finished necklace, which I haven't named yet, and the second one - its close-up. What about name? Any idea?

Simplicity

Let's face it, we are in the middle of recession, no matter how much we want to ignore it. And although it has started in the US, it can be felt all around the world, including in Europe.

Why do I mention this? Because we all know when the money is tight(er), the two things that go first are perfume and jewelry. Many women stop buying jewelry until the situation is better. I mean jewelry and perfumes are still considered luxury items. And they are the first to go.
And if you have been following wire wrapping lately, it has become very complex, complicated and expensive. And no doubt about it, gorgeous as well.

This is why for the next few months I will be focusing on creating very affordable, yet sweet, elegant and beautiful jewelry. Focus will be on those of us who - no matter what situation the economy is in - we do not want to deny ourselves those little secret pleasures, like eating a few dark chocolate pralines, or wearing a cute pair of earrings.

Having this in mind, I am starting the very affordable collection of simplicity and beauty.

The first in this collection is actually an interchangeable pair of earrings - i.e. you buy two pairs for the price of one! Changing the beads on the earwires is extremely easy, just slide them off and put the new on in place. Voila, you have a new pair of earrings for that other outfit.

The stones are orange agate beads and chunky amethyst briolettes on sterling silver fancy earwires.
Everything has been tumbled in my Lortone tumbler for added shine and durability.

A kiss of Spring

I used the title of my latest piece for this post - today the sun was shining and guess what we actually felt some warmth - mind you, you had to be out of the wind, now that was cold! In fact the children all came out of school asking for their coats off - how funny as soon as the sun shines they want to strip off - really it wasn't that warm!! Maybe being in Cornwall and the South of the UK we feel the warmth sooner, of course sun rises and sets earlier and later then say Scotland but then again we can grow palm trees and other plants that anyone further up (For us Cornish anything over the Tamar {River seperating Cornwall and Devon} is "Up Norf"!! :0D



Now a little about the jewellery - the first bracelet is made from tiny (4 - 5 mm) rounds of primarily, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Peridot and Aquamarine, with my little 'Kisses' in and amongst the gemstones. It took me quite a few {understatement} to finish her but I'm so happy with the finish look. The second bracelet with Isabelle Andersons beautiful beads and micro faceted rounds of Smokey Quartz with Bali silver.

Russian Royalty

I bet your wondering why I named this post "Russian Royalty" apart from the name of my latest piece!!! Well I think my muse has been at work again - I made this necklace last night - on eof those times when you are in the middle of changing a piece to fit a client and something all together different is born (If you are a reading this JO - your dizzy jewellery designer has finished it!!! ) Princess Tatiana is a compliation of Isabelle Anderson's beautiful lampwork and coral with amethyst and Karen Hill Tribe Silver.

Elegantly cool, I still don't know where the name came from - I read up on Princess Tatiana and am none the wiser so if anyone knows why my muse wanted this name can you let me know :0P
